Lyme Disease Yoga Challenge

I am devoting the month of May to my friend, Darren.  I met Darren when I was volunteering for a help line that offered support to those struggling with mental health and thoughts of suicide.  He truly was the most energetic, kind, and compassionate soul.  He always had a smile, regardless of the day and saw the goodness in everyone around him.  Unfortunately, this gentle man got Lyme disease.... and then his life changed.  I don't know too much about how all of this unfolded as he was not in touch so much as he became sicker.  I know he struggled more than he deserved.  I know that he would have tried so hard to be positive and to fight for some way to heal.  I also know that before he passed away, he saved all his Lyme disease medication (which he had stopped taking close to the end) and left it for a friend to distribute to others suffering with Lyme Disease who were not able to afford the medications.  When I heard of this, I couldn't do anything but cry: for him, for his family and community, for others who are suffering with Lyme disease.  I can't help but get goosebumps when I hear about how he saved his medications for others who needed it.  In what I suspect were his darkest moments of fear and pain, he thought of other people.  We can all be a little more like Darren.  We can think of others when we are suffering and find ways to help.  We can be kind every day, regardless of how we feel or what is going on in our own life.

To honour Darren and all of those beautiful people who are suffering with Lyme disease, I will be hosting and sponsoring a yoga challenge on Instagram with my wonderful friend LindaLee.  We will be doing our best to bring more awareness to Lyme disease in hopes that more people will be come aware of this horrendous disease.  We have some great hosts and sponsors line up and as more information becomes available, I will post more about it. This is your chance to make a small difference and to have a chance to win some great prizes including a Duddhara Strap!  If you are interested in joining us, please check out my instagram page and LindaLee's page.  I will be posting more as we get closer to May.
